Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Associate Pastor of Music: Rev. Aza Hudson
Music is a great way to praise God and glorify His name! Psalm 95: 1-2 says, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord: let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.”
Aza has been part of church music in Albemarle for over 45 years. She began accompanying a youth choir and playing for the Sunday evening worship services when she was in 8th grade and has continued in church music. She has been at First Baptist since 2007. She retired in June 2019 from music education in Stanly County with 35 years, teaching students in kindergarten through 12th grades. Her last 23 years were at North Stanly High School teaching chorus and handbells. She was blessed to have taught so many talented, caring and wonderful young people.
Aza is also active in the community. She is a former Music Director and accompanist for the Stanly County Chorale. Aza was selected as the 2020 “Arts Person of the Year” by the Stanly County Arts Council.
While not working with music, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin and children, Elizabeth, Eben, Elaine and Elithe, especially at the beach. She loves sharing her faith in God and her love of music with her family, church and community.
Associate Pastor of Family Ministries: Rev. Rebecca Stempniak
Rebecca graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Recreation Management. Following her call to ministry, she then earned her Master of Divinity from George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University.
When she is not at church, Rebecca loves being outside. Whether camping, hiking, or paddling, she loves spending time outdoors, especially with her dog, Lily. Rebecca also loves reading and finding the best cup of coffee wherever she goes.
Psalm 23:1-3 “The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”
